Carpet Cleaning Process
- Inspection. We will determine the fiber type and style of your carpet. This may affect the cleaning solutions used to get the best results. We will set your expectations for the results of our cleaning. We will ask if you are aware of the cause of any spots or stains to assist us in choosing the proper cleaning solution to remove it. We will also look for preexisting damage to your carpet, such as yarn runs or pulls, bad seams, bleach spots or color loss and delamination
- Furniture Moving. We will carefully use furniture sliders to move any furniture you request. If you have large and/or fragile furniture, we will carefully clean around its base. Review our Preparation Checklist Page for more information on furniture moving.
- Preconditioning. Applying a preconditioner to the carpet will loosen the soil, making it easier to rinse away.
- Agitation. This makes a big difference in releasing soils faster, which results in a better cleaning.
- Cleaning. Our truck mounted equipment is PTO/Direct Drive and powered by our van’s engine. It generates 200-250 degree hot water, strong pressure and strong vacuum. Our clean, fresh water holding tank supplies water to a pump, then it is heated to 200-250 degrees by a heat exchanger, then a cleaning solution is injected and brought into the home by a solution line. The floor cleaning tool applies the solution to the carpet fibers and then it is extracted along with all the unwanted dirt, germs, pet hair, allergens and more through a vacuum hose back to a separate wastewater holding tank in our van. Some companies may use a portable or electric machine that may not be as powerful. However, even using similar equipment does not guarantee a quality job. The cleaning technique and the technician play a large role in the final results of the cleaning. Click here to learn why you can trust Referral.
- Edge Cleaning. Tight areas, corners, and edges that could not be cleaned with the floor tool are cleaned with a small detail hand tool.
- Spotting. Some spots or stains will not be removed from carpet and fabric with cleaning only. Referral has a variety of specialty spotting solutions they can use on challenging spots or stains. Knowing the source or cause of the spot or stain helps us choose the appropriate solution. Referral’s technicians have attended specialty spotting classes, can consult spotting guides, and personally know industry experts to call for advice. - Grooming. After cleaning is completed a grooming rake is used to remove tool marks, knap differences and footprints giving your carpet a uniform appearance.
- Scotchgard Carpet Protection. We recommend reapplying Scotchgard Carpet Protector after each cleaning to help it stay cleaner longer and to protect it from permanent stains.
- Speed Drying. We utilize our high-speed fans while cleaning to begin drying. We will also adjust your heating & air system, furnace fan blower, ceiling fans, and any portable fans you have to dry your carpet as soon as possible. Click here for more drying tips.
- Post Inspection. We will review the results of the areas we cleaned with you. We will also offer maintenance/care tips.
